Wondering how to escape the 9 to 5 workday grind? Is it possible to escape the 9 to 5 and build a lifestyle of freedom and flexibility? This can be done around an internet based business. But exactly what is involved in this kind of business, how many hours will you need to put in and what are your chances of success? Can anyone do this or does it require more than most are capable of?
How To Escape the 9 to 5 Workday Grind
My internet based journey started several years ago when I looked to ebay as a means to make a living. Initially I started small just by buying and selling items around the house (my house of course!). Eventually this led to buying items on ebay which I could resell for a profit. I explain the whole system in this article here. The idea itself came from an ebook I had bought from ebay. I found the ebook while searching for ebay based businesses. It was one of those instantly downloadable books which you can access immediately. I clicked on the link, paid and accessed my ebook straight away. It was this business model which I eventually came to realise was the model I wanted to use.
Automated Systems
If you’re wondering how to escape the 9 to 5 workday grind, keep reading. As you’ll see, this is exactly what I wanted too. I spent a good deal of time trying to figure it out and this downloadable book seemed to me like the perfect ‘key’ to making an automated income from the internet. The concept fascinated me. It wasn’t the content of the book itself which lit up a fire in me, it was the idea of selling digital products automatically. This idea later led me to discover a business model which was already working well on the internet. It is called affiliate marketing.
What Is Affiliate Marketing?
Before I explain affiliate marketing, I want to share how I found the business model. I wasn’t looking for an affiliate marketing business. After all, I didn’t know at this stage what affiliate marketing was. I simply wanted to create my own ebook and be able to sell it on the internet.
It was only after a huge amount of trial and error, that I came to discover the model. Affiliate marketing worked better for me because it didn’t rely on me building my own products. Affiliate marketing is basically a referral marketing concept in which you can refer website ‘traffic’ to other people’s products and services on the internet.
You don’t need your own products and you can sell almost anything to earn a commission. By sending qualified website visitors to products which they want and need, you can earn commissions based on the sales you generate. What’s more is that you don’t need to speak to any customers or own or hold any stock yourself.
A Scalable And Automated Model
Like the initial idea of selling an ebook on the internet, affiliate marketing takes advantage of downloadable products. Digital products such as software and membership websites can be accessed from anywhere and have very few costs involved once they are built. They don’t require posting physically or take up any space for storage. This means the profits can be passed on to the people who do the marketing – affiliates. Because the sales pages, adverts, and affiliate links can run 24/7 without the need to physical presence, most of this business can be automated. Digital products can be automated and accessed from anywhere globally. This makes the affiliate business model one of the most scalable business models available.
The Right Business Model
Not all affiliate marketing business models are the same. Some models require building content, others require paying for advertising. Some affiliates sell their own products and others choose to sell other people’s products. Selling products on the internet can be done in various different ways:
- Blogging
- Video Creation
- Podcasts
- Online advertising
- List building etc. etc.
The business model you use will play a large part in how well you do with an online business.
Can Anyone Do This?
A lot of people don’t understand affiliate marketing. They think that you need specialized knowledge in order to learn. However, online software has become more user friendly and more people are building their own websites and starting their own online businesses. What used to be the role of a programmer, can now be done by anyone. It doesn’t matter how little you know about the internet or building websites, for example, because anyone can learn how to start their own internet based business from scratch.
